Over the past couple years we have been telling kids who play Minecraft that there is no such thing as a BLUE Axolotl. We breeders were constantly getting calls from kids asking for a "Blue Axolotl". Minecraft has a super rare axolotl in the game that is blue. I can say that is actually something that is real!!

     Over the past couple years we have been seeing this newer phenotype pop up all around America. Emily Hoots with Rainy Day Axolotls named it the Hypomelanistic Axolotl. Since it lacks the amount of black pigment in the skin, some Hypomelanistic Melanoid Axolotls actually have a bluish appearance to them. Even the standard Hypomelanistic has some blue like color to it!!

     So we were wrong in telling you kids there is no such thing as "BLUE Axolotls"
