Why should you purchase an axolotl from a reputable axolotl breeder instead of a pet store?

Looking to buy an axolotl? Do not buy one from a pet store. Here are 3 reasons why:

• 1.  Pet stores buy axolotls in wholesale lots, and most do not know the any of the genetics of the axolotls. Reputable axolotl breeders specialize in producing strong genetics in their axolotls. They can guide you every step of the way better than a pet store because breeding axolotls is their passion and love. Pet stores are in it for mostly financial reasons.

• 2.  Pet stores are set up for fish not axolotls. Their tanks are typically warmer promoting fungus growth and many unhealthy even fatal conditions. Reputable axolotl breeders take an immense amount of pride in maintaining their water parameters and making certain the tank they keep the axolotls in is not overcrowded or to warm. They meticulously monitor the nitrates and temperature to ensure healthy axolotl environments. Pet stores pay the most attention to serving the needs of dog owners and cat owners, not axolotls.
